# Staking + Loot boxes

**What’s staking mean?** \
\
Staking is the act of tying up a token in a smart contract in exchange for regular rewards. \
\
In our system, stake your Cosmonauts and Cosmo-Pets to earn some points. In our system, stake your Cosmonauts and Cosmo-Pets to earn some points. \
\- Each Cosmonaut will earn you 2.8 points per day. \
\- Each Cosmo-Pet will earn you 1.4 points per day. \
\- Each Galactic VIP Pass holder earns you x1.5 multiplier per day\
\
Holders who have accumulated more than 1000 pts within a month will be able to burn their points to claim a loot box. Points roll over to the next month if not used. \
\
**Examples:** \
\- if you own 3 pets and 3 cosmonauts: 126 + 252= 378 pts per month. You’ll be able to claim your reward every 3 months. \
\- if you own 8 pets and 8 Cosmonauts: 336 + 672 = 1008 pts per month. You’ll be able to claim your reward each month. \
\- if you own 12 Cosmonauts: 1008 pts per month. You’ll be able to claim your reward each month. \
\
The Loot box is a surprise box accessible through the staking system. Inside, you will find several surprises : WL spots for hype projects, free NFT from other collections, free Cosmonaut NFTs, free Cosmo-Pet NFTs, new trait NFTs, in game consumables and skins, tokens including: $WBITS and Cloud Credits\
\
There will be multiple loot boxes within each claim period with different items in them. \
\
A snapshot will be taken just before the opening of the claim period to record the points of all the people who have staked their NFTs
